The above lines of song by Legendary Singer Late Gopal Babu Goswami describes all about the state in few words.
Uttarakhand is one of the most beautiful and greenery rich state of India.
Carved out with 11 hilly districts (Nainital, Dehradun & Pauri District partially have plain areas),
the state is rich in flora and fauna, natural and touristy ambience, and houses
some of the most important pilgrimage centers in the country.

Uttarakhand became the 27th state of the Republic of India on the 9th of November 2000.
The State is carved out of Uttar Pradesh.
It occupies 1.73% of India’s total land area with 51,125 sq. km.
It has a population of about 6.0 million at 94.4 per sq. km. It borders Tibet, Nepal, Himachal Pradesh.

Breathtaking in its natural splendor, grand in its wild denizens,
and simplicity in its people, the region is a unique experience to your senses.
The hill districts of Uttarakhand (Garhwal and Kumaon region of UP at earlier),
were backward, lacking good roads and communication systems till 1962.
But the Indo-Chinese conflict in 1962 awakened the Indian government, which prioritized
the development of the remote hilly areas by establishing communication networks and roads.
